Kal studied cinematography with Billy Williams, BSC, and worked as an editorial photographer before becoming an actor.
He wrote and directed The Gift, nominated for Best International Short at Austin, Florida, LA Shorts, winning a TCM Turner Classics Special Jury Prize in London.
His short script Stones is a Page Awards Semi-Finalist, winning a Best Screenplay award at The Rhode Island Film Festival.
He wrote and directed Carousel, receiving best film nominations at Berlin, Oberhausen, Edinburgh and Brest.
